How TV Azteca Uses Beam to Bring Greater Visibility to Broadcast Operations

TV Azteca, part of Grupo Salinas, is one of the world’s largest producers of Spanish-language television content. It broadcasts four national television channels in Mexico and operates an international service reaching 13 countries across Central and South America. Sustaining that output requires tens of thousands of assets spread across 24 production facilities nationwide. Managing all that equipment has not always been straightforward.

Until recently, TV Azteca’s Installation and Maintenance of Broadcast Equipment department  managed work orders through a legacy control system, while other parts of its workflow relied on internal systems owned and maintained by different departments. Even small updates requested by the IMB team could take time to put in place. TV Azteca turned to Beam’s Asset Intelligence Platform™ to help its team work with clearer records, faster processes and more control over how their systems evolve.

The Challenge

TV Azteca's Broadcast Maintenance Laboratory

TV Azteca manages maintenance, inventory and purchasing through different systems, with each serving a different function. Some are owned by other departments, which means staff often have to coordinate across multiple systems and internal stakeholders to get the full picture.

The information exists, but bringing it together can take time. Linking an incident to a specific asset or tracing a purchase request back to the maintenance need behind it can require manual work. Decommissioning was another area where the process could become difficult to manage, with paperwork, signatures and several steps that did not always move in a straight line. When other priorities came up, assets could stay in limbo for longer than intended. Beam helped TV Azteca bring more structure to that process, making it easier to track what needed to happen, who needed to approve it and where each asset sat in its lifecycle.

Bringing It Together with Beam

TV Azteca began by bringing its existing asset records into Beam and building from there. Beam’s implementation specialists worked closely with TV Azteca’s technical staff to shape the platform around their existing processes, while giving them a clearer structure for adding, updating and linking asset records.

Inventory and incident management were introduced first, followed by purchase tracking to capture the cycle from initial quote to approval and spare parts delivery. As equipment moved through the field or workshop, users could add and update records directly in Beam, helping the asset library grow through daily use.

Beam’s flexible entity management gave TV Azteca greater control over how its data was structured. Fields, statuses and workflows could be adjusted from within the platform, reducing the need to route every small change through another department. For the engineering department, that flexibility created a more practical way to manage maintenance, procurement and asset intelligence in one place.

Implementation

The implementation was a close collaboration. Beam worked through an extensive discovery and configuration phase with TV Azteca to get the platform set up correctly. Francisco Chavez, Beam’s Implementation Specialist on the account, supported the process through online sessions and on-site in Mexico City, helping train users, identify gaps and bring feature requests back to the product team.

TV Azteca also championed localization. The platform was primarily English when they started using it, and their feedback helped drive the addition of full Spanish-language support.

“From the first visit, it was clear this was going to be a collaborative relationship. Their team was suggesting new ways to use the data almost immediately, and a lot of those conversations turned into real product developments. The push for Spanish-language support came directly from TV Azteca, and that's now something the whole platform benefits from.”

Growing Visibility, Growing Adoption

As the system developed, so did the value of the records inside it. TV Azteca’s engineering department now has a more complete picture of its asset estate than at any point before, with incident tracking, location data and procurement history held in one place.

That clearer view has also helped build interest across other areas of the business. As departments and production groups saw Beam in use, more conversations followed. Beam is now being used beyond the original maintenance department, with discussions ongoing across other areas of TV Azteca and within the broader Grupo Salinas group.

“For my team,  Beam has helped us keep track of work orders in real time, improve control of the warehouse and standardize the information we are working with. It also makes it much easier to follow up on resolutions promptly and keep work moving.”
Eduardo Mazaba, Administrative Systems Manager, TV Azteca

TV Azteca’s renewal through 2028 reflects how far the relationship has developed. What began as a focused maintenance project has become a broader platform for asset intelligence, reporting and operational control. As adoption expands, Beam continues to support the decisions that keep a major broadcast operation moving.
